What it takes to become a webmaster

Since you are reading this article, then you have encountered the word “webmaster” once in your online experience. Webmaster, is an individual who is responsible of managing or updating a website. Becoming a webmaster is one of best alternatives for those who want to earn at home or those who want to have multiple income streams.

Unfortunately, not everyone can quickly become a webmaster. It takes a lot of time and effort to reach the stages when you might want to call yourself a good webmaster. This comes from the fact that there are always better people who have done a much better job and make you look like a complete amateur. If you want to become a good webmaster, you’ve got to plan things ahead especially on tasks concerning your current and future websites. While owning a website can be easy by simply availing web hosting services and acquiring a domain name, carrying out tasks of a true webmaster can be tricky – but fun and potentially rewarding.

Before you jump start, it is always a good practice to assess yourself and write things down. Specify clearly your personal goals and your website goals. Put to paper all your thoughts about the type of website that you are interested to work on (e.g., forum site, blog site, directory etc.), the subject of the site, your proposed target audience and the features you want to implement in the future. Write all your ideas in mind and filter them out later.

For starters, it is recommended to build a type of a personal site that presents a topic you really liked or inclined too. You can probably decide to set-up a blogs site, products review or any site which you can provide quality information and resources that can be helpful to others. This is the easiest way to bring traffic to your site.

While facilitating web construction projects and web maintenance, webmasters need to keep themselves updated with the latest in web development technology. Even the most basic programming language must be reviewed as often as possible and analyzed as to how it can help improve a website’s performance. Webmasters are sometimes faced as well with the challenge of marketing their creations.

The webmaster facilitates the planning, construction, development and maintenance stages of web designing and construction. Prior to planning, the webmaster coordinates with the client and settles agreement concerning the website’s purposes, contents, target market, needed resources and financial plans. During planning, whatever actions needed to take that was discussed between the client and the webmaster shall be distributed among the members of the development team. As for the construction, development and maintenance stages, the webmaster’s primary goal is to help with each member and fuse each individual’s work into one website.

Of course, webmasters don’t have just one website to worry about for the rest of his life, especially those recognized few. Sometimes web designing projects even pile up as existing websites call webmasters’ attentions for web maintenance jobs. The webmaster is then faced with handling not only these two but multiple email accounts in connection with the multiple domains he works with. Confusion further sinks in with the many usernames and passwords needed to maintain these accounts. Webmasters must always keep track of every single thing they do. From simply logging on and retrieving mail to finalizing jobs and logging out, webmasters have to effectively document any web maintenance jobs in order to better handle problems in the future.

Kosova declares independence

PRISTINA, Kosovo – Kosovo’s prime minister said parliament will meet on Sunday at 3 PM CET, for a special session to declare the province’s independence, a bold and historic bid for statehood in defiance of Serbia and Russia.

By sidestepping the U.N. and appealing directly to the U.S. and other nations for recognition, Kosova’s independence sets up a showdown with Serbia — outraged at the imminent loss of its territory — and Russia, which warns of a dangerous precedent for separatist groups worldwide.

The ethnic Albanian leadership scheduled the extraordinary parliamentary session for Sunday afternoon to proclaim the Republic of Kosova and unveil the new country’s flag and national crest.

“We are on the brink of a very crucial moment — an important decision that will make us one of the free nations of the world,” said Prime Minister Hashim Thaci, a former leader of the Kosova Liberation Army whose ethnic Albanian guerrillas clashed with Serb troops in a 1998-99 conflict that claimed 10,000 lives.

He signed letters to 192 countries — including Serbia — asking them to recognize Kosova’s statehood.

US President George W.Bush speaking from a tour of Africa, said the United States “will continue to work with our allies to the very best we can to make sure there’s no violence” in the aftermath of Kosova’s proclamation.

Bush said it was in “Serbia’s interest to be aligned with Europe and the Serbian people can know that they have a friend in America.” He also praised Kosova’s government for showing “its willingness and its desire to support Serbian rights in Kosova.”

As we write this article, the parliamentary session is already underway and the delegates are all present in the parliament. There are well over 500.000 people in capital Prishtina who are celebrating this historic day waving their flags in support of their new country and also the flags of United States, Great Britain, NATO Alliance, European Union etc.
